WEEK 4,Symbolism of the Olympic rings

http://ask.yahoo.com/20020214.html
According to the Olympic Charter, the five ringed symbol "represents" the union of five different continents and also the meeting of the athletes from throughout the world at the Olympic games. Not coincidentally,Coubertin is the founder of the modern Olympic Movement. The Olympic committee adopted the flag in 1914 and the flag was first flown at the 1920 Antwerp games.
While the charter isn't explicit, many people believe that the colours of the Olympic flag-blue, black, red, yellow and green on a white field -are used because at least one of these colours are found on each nations flag that participates in the games. This theory might be true; however the nation that each ring represents a specific continent is not. The five interlocking rings represent the five continents brought together by Olympic movement.
